Glacial Heights

£ 175.00

From an original watercolour of a European Lynx with glacial background.

This painting was inspired by family trips around the French Alps. I was intrigued by the contrast between the dark coloured rocks and the blue and lilac shadows in the pristine glacier. After researching into the animals that live in this harsh environment I decided that the European Lynx  with its russet brow colouring and white facial markings would be perfect sitting in the foreground among the rocks. The European Lynx is solitary and shy, rarely seen by people but successfully lives and hunts  high up in these mountainous regions.

There was a lot of work involved with this highly detailed watercolour painting but I really enjoyed the challenge of depicting all the different textures in the rocks and fur.

The original painting was sold to a private collector in Singapore.
